Faculty squelch Webbies film

School of Communications bungles showing of student-produced film for annual awards show

Accusations of censorship are being bandied around by several students in the Webbies production class after a panel of faculty from the School of Communications declared portions of "Lethal Webbies" inappropriate. "Lethal Webbies," a parody of the popular "Lethal Weapon" movie series, is a 45-minute video that details how two Public Safety officers attempt to foil a plot by a deranged international student.

Pres. Meyers declines to sign emissions pact

Meyers cites costs of compliance for withholding signature from national agreement to cut carbon emissions

One hundred and forty-eight college and university presidents from 34 states have signed a pact agreeing to reduce carbon emissions to zero. The American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment is an agreement to offset carbon-dioxide emissions by using renewable sources of energy and reforestation to release more oxygen into the atmosphere and balance out the carbon dioxide.

WU targets minorities to ensure diversity

Recruiters in the Undergraduate Admissions and International Recruitment Offices use the intention of a varied student body as a deciding factor on where and how they recruit. Webster is preparing a self-study report for reaccreditation from the Higher Learning Commission's North Central Association, a regional accreditor. Webster has had accreditation from the HLC since 1925. Every 10 years, the university is eligible to be accredited again.

VP of development and alumni programs retires after 11 years at WU

Russell Viehmann, vice president of development and alumni programs, is retiring from the university after 11 years. A retirement party was held March 23 in the University Center Sunnen Lounge to celebrate his career. "I've done this for a long time and I'm ready for a change," Viehmann said.

Fall registration Registration for the fall 2007 semester begins April 2 for undergraduate seniors or any student with more than 90 credits. Undergraduate juniors, students with 60 credits or more, will be able to register April 3. All undergraduates will be able to register April 4.
