WU spins into first-ever carnival for annual campus celebration

A Ferris Wheel almost as tall as the parking garage gave the Webster University community a new view of campus during the Homecoming FallFest Friday, Oct. 9. For the carnival, Elizabeth Eisele, a graduate assistant in the University Center and for Student Activities, said 173 parking spots in Lot L by Pearson House were closed off and used to house seven rides - a Ferris wheel, the Round-Up, bumper cars, the Zumer, Monkey Mayhem, the Spider and a carousel.

Laurel Hayes offers a place for students to talk

The Rev. Dr. Laurel Hayes reaches the Sverdrup building at Webster University around 11:45 a.m. every Monday to set up shop. She drapes a red-and-white-checkered cloth over a round table, then sets a bowl of unshelled peanuts in front of her. She waits patiently with a sign that reads "The Listening Post; a place to talk," open to anyone who has something to share.

WU student plays a Klingon in "Star Trek: Helena Chronicles"

Matt Jamieson, a junior journalism major, was on cloud nine when he was asked to be a Klingon for "Star Trek: The Helena Chronicles." "When I got the instant message asking me to come down and be a Klingon, I was in my basement studying for midterms," Jamieson said.

May Gallery enters an out-of-focus world

At the opening reception for photographers Cindy Lappin and Kevin Vogler on Friday, Oct. 9, students, staff and community members got a clear explanation of the out-of-focus photos hanging in Webster University's May Gallery. Lappin and Vogler, a husband and wife duo, have been working together on-and-off for over 30 years and have been married for 14 years.
