Bewildered New York Mets fan Thomas Parr, a senior journalism major and sports editor for The Journal, struggled through the first of his promised two day sit-in on the Quad Oct. 23. Parr guaranteed a Met victory in the 2006 NLCS. Parr, a native New Yorker, issued the pledge in the Oct. 12 through Oct. 25 issue of The Journal. Parr greeted every onlooker and curious passers-by with the phrase "The Mets are pond scum," though, reportedly, the focus of the protest and subsequent outbursts switched numerous times throughout the day. It is unknown if Parr suffered any injuries during the protest.
