Webster had established a comfortable lead by that point in the game against Blackburn College, with a 6-0 lead midway through the second half, before finishing the game with a 6-1 victory.
However the crowd, was acknowledging sophomore captain Kevin Fann and junior transfer Scott Filla, not only for their dominance that day, but also for the tandem's striking performance throughout the entire season.
Together, the two have accounted for 31 of Webster's 50 goals this season - and were responsible for four goals against Blackburn (Fann netted his second hat trick of the year in that contest).
"I don't think we've had a combination up front like that," Coach Marty Todt said. "I don't know that we ever have. The message they send to the rest of the team is that we have to finish when given the chance."
Todt stressed the importance of using the whole pitch and not letting opposing defenses get comfortable thinking the Gorloks were only capable of applying pressure in the middle of the field.
"If we keep moving the ball from side to side, we make it much harder for teams to defend us," Todt said. "Then we open up more space for those guys. And the more effective we become at doing that, then the more effective those two guys become for us."
Although Webster has seen some tremendous talent come through its soccer program throughout the years, two players never had standout offensive years to this degree during the same season.
"It's a great combination and it's a good balance," Todt said. "They are very intelligent players, too."
Fann and Filla are quickly working through Webster's record book.
