It must be time to do the "Time Warp" again.

Dr. Frank-N-Furter invites you to his castle to enjoy some traditional Transylvanian folk dancing, sing-alongs and the unveiling of his science project - the perfect man named Rocky.

Campus Activities, LBGTQ Alliance and the Dance Club co-sponsored the showing of the 1975 cult classic "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" Oct. 26 in the Grant Gymasium. Liz Eisele, a junior broadcast journalism major and program manager for Campus Activities, said showing "Rocky Horror" was the obvious choice for SHOCKtoberfest.

"We knew we wanted to put together a week full of Halloween events, and when I think of Halloween I think of 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show,'" Eisele said.

Sophomore Mac Ingram, an international human rights and political science major and conference director for LGBTQ Alliance, knew this event was something the group wanted to be involved with.

"Watching 'Rocky Horror' is a rite of passage in the gay community," Ingram said. "It's fun and frivolous. It makes me nostalgic for when I was a rebellious teenager."

About 50 students came to see the movie, roughly a third were in costume, but no one dressed like the characters in the movie.

Before the show, film-goers watched as nine 'Rocky Horror' virgins gobbled cherries in whipped cream and then spit out the pits. All participants received a Campus Activities water bottle. Sixteen contestants strutted their costumes for the applause of the audience. Three were awarded with best costume: third place was Freshman Emily Williams, a communications major, second place was non-student Jacob Parrish and first place was Washington University student Alex Radunz. All three won a "Rocky Horror" t-shirt and DVD.

Many students came to see the movie for the first time. Samantha Britton, junior photography major, was excited to see the cult classic for the first time.

"I came because I've never seen it before," Britton said. "My favorite part was when Tim Curry came out and when he kills Eddie."
