Take Back the Night
Students for Gender Equality will hold a rally, march and speak-out to address sexual violence 7 p.m. April 25 in the University Center Sunnen Lounge. The rally is open to the public and will begin at 7 p.m. The speak-out is a confidential process for women only and will be held from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. For more information, e-mail Karalynn Miller of Students for Gender Equality at webstersfge@hotmail.com.
Homecoming events listing
If your department is interested in having a Homecoming event listed in the alumni brochure, please notify Billy Ratz of Alumni Programs at ratzwil@webster.edu by May 14. The name of the event, a short description and contact information is required. Homecoming 2007 will be held September 28 through 30.
Award nominations
Nominations for the Dean's Award for Service are due April 30 to the Office of the Dean of Students. The award is given to students who perform a valuable service on or off campus. Letters of recommendation should include the student's name, major and a description of the type of service performed. For more information, call ext. 6980 or e-mail hoeftl@webster.edu.
Nominations for the Outstanding Student Employee Award are due April 30 to Maureen Stroer of Career Services. To qualify, students need to have been employed by the department for at least three months, work at least 10 hours a week and maintain a 3.0 GPA. Letters of recommendation should describe the accomplishments and attributes of the student employee.
Women and family in politics
Jean and Robin Carnahan will give a talk from 4 to 5:30 p.m. April 30 in the UC Sunnen Lounge as part of the Holden Public Policy Forum's Pizza and Politics series. Jean Carnahan, a former Missouri senator, and her daughter Robin, Missouri's current secretary of state, will discuss women and family in politics.
International Night
The Multicultural Center and International Student Affairs hosts "2007 International Night: Around the World in One Night" 7 p.m. May 4 in the UC Grant Gymnasium. The event will include international food and various entertainment from around the globe. Tickets are $6 for Webster faculty and staff, $8 for others and $4 for children. For tickets or more information, call ext. 7649 or go to the Multicultural Center, rooms 52 through 59 in Loretto Hall.
Journey to "The Apprentice"
Suzanne Cohen, founder of Smart Mouth mouthwash and the president of Triumph Pharmaceuticals, will give a talk from 7 to 8 p.m. May 1 in the Emerson Library Conference Room. The talk is titled "Smart Mouth Take a Bite Out of Hollywood: A Company's Journey to The Apprentice with Donald Trump."
