The authorization to send mass warnings will only be given to a select number of Webster staff to keep the system controlled, but Haffner said at this time, the committee has not decided on any faculty to have the responsibility. He said probably Public Safety or Meyers' office would have the authorization.
The committee is still in discussion over the warning options, including sirens. Haffner said since Webster e-mail is not able to send as quickly as Eden, it can only be one component for the overall solution. He said hopefully other methods will be implemented by the end of the year, but there are no set plans yet.
Gladys Smith, assistant director of counseling and life development, said although she feels safe on campus, she likes the idea and has already signed up for the service.
"Hopefully they will work out all the bugs and test regularly and soon," Smith said.
More then 425 students and staff have already signed up for the service as of date. For information and to sign up for the warning system, Webster students and staff can go to http://www.webster.edu/technology/websteralerts.com.

In my opinion, the Student Communication committee has reasonably assessed the situation. There are an indefinite amount of situations that can occur at any institution and unless we cover the campus in bubble wrap and chain a dead bolt on it, there will always exist a loop hole for danger.
