Athletic Director responds to Journal article

After reading last week's article about the swim team, I felt compelled to respond. I did meet with the swim team during the spring of 2006 after it lost a third coach in four years. The program was almost eliminated at that point. However, I did agree to give the program another chance to meet NCAA expectations for sport sponsorship.

Corrections and Clarifications

The following errors appeared in the Sept. 6 issue. The Journal regrets these errors. • Don Corrigan should have been titled as a journalism professor in the article "Professor speaks on book, nature sites." • The photo in the article "Webster alum has sunny day on 'Sesame Street'" should have been attributed to BEE Corporation.

Unfair to compare WU to WashU and SLU

I would like to commend The Journal for drawing attention to faculty salaries at Webster University. Each year, the faculty meets with the administration to negotiate salary and fringe benefits. However, we calculate faculty salary comparisons at a national level with other Category IIA institutions.

Student activity fee benefits campus events

I would like to make an addendum to your article about Second City in last week's Journal. It was a very informative and positive article about the event, but you forgot one thing - to credit the people who brought them to campus in the first place. Please let it be known to the readers of The Journal that the subject of the cover story was organized by Campus Activities.
